Float

17.6C with long sunny spells and some cloud. Showers forecast for the afternoon. Moderate breeze.

Maeve the Deerhound and I went through to Arbroath before 9am and had our walk round the harbour. It was bright and there was plenty of light. The lock gate to the inner harbour was closed, so we could walk round in a loop. We did take a detour round to the boatyard but there were no boats on the slipway. Further round the outer harbour I noticed the tide was well out and a few boats were aground. One of them, Orianne, had been tied up on far to short a rope and was tipped over at an angle and almost suspended next to the harbour wall. This happened to the same boat earlier in the year and it ended up in the boatyard for inspection and repair. Today's shot was taken as we walked back to the car with the morning light bright on the hull of this boat, with its float and ropes (extra pic ... the stern of the same boat ... I couldn't resist).

Maeve went out to the back garden when we got home and she stayed there, even through the colder cloudy spells. I went out for a walk after lunch. Northern Soul on the Nano. Just a 2 mile loop down to the shore road and round the main road and back home. Maeve was fast asleep in the sunshine when I got back.

Maeve has just been called in because the first shower has arrived. She noticed her croissant corner in her dish right away. A nice reward for coming in when called.
