Southport Marine Lake
I’ve been feeling a bit off and a bit lonely today. Had a lazy morning. Persuaded myself to go out this afternoon. Drove to Southport and parked in a small carpark with no charge just outside, which gave me a slightly longer ride. Cycled all along the prom and the full length of Marine dive, through the Ribble nature reserve. It was lovely and flat and smooth. Even with my new mirror I wasn’t aware of anyone behind me for ages and I thought I was cycling at a reasonable pace but suddenly I got overtaken by a guy on roller skates! Where did he come from?!
I originally had intended coming back a different route but discovered it was more a path than a cycle route. I retraced my route back along Marine drive, it was a lovely ride. This time I went the other side of Marine lake. I was tempted by the speed boat ride but decided it would be more fun if shared with someone. I considered the small boats but they were motor not rowing and priced per boat, which made it expensive for one. Settled on a quick play on the horses in the arcade, a reminder of holidays when I was a child.
