Borstal village and Marina from across the river

We went to see the 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' this evening in Strood and went for a walk along the river bank near the cinema first as we were early. This is the view across the river - Rochester being to the left of this image, and the motorway bridge to the right..

It was quite a thought provoking film about what it means to be human/ape and about human (ape) nature and some clever CGI but some silly bits.
We had a pizza out afterwards so it was a nice end to the day.

A slightly frantic morning, as my usual cat sitter texted me late yesterday to say they were unfortunately suddenly unable to help for my looming holiday! After frantic phoning around (all the catteries were full - to be expected at this stage!) I finally found someone who was not going to be away for all or part of the same week - phew

On with the pre-holiday cleaning/laundry/packing and also because my son (no 2) and girlfriend are coming over tomorrow and staying the night to go out with us - for his birthday which is on Aug 1 - but we will be packing off Alex and getting ready to leave ourselves then!
