Today's blip is borrowed from a twitter athleticos chum, Beverley, who has kindly let me use her cracking picture of the decathletes doing their customary lap of honour.

These boys are phenomenal. They are international standard, if not world class, in all ten events they do. They shrug off aches, pains, strains like they are nothing. The young Australian was disqualified from the first event after a second false start, which is extremely rare. He was therefore out of contention, automatically some 800 points behind others aiming for a total of 8000. But he picked himself up, dusted himself off,and saw through the other 9 events.

These guys are the pinnacle of supreme sportsmanship. Decathletes really do do it ten times better.
