This is Dan Greaves getting his gold medal after an enthralling and competitive discus competition. I'm one of the minority who hang on after an event (or come early) to see qualifying rounds of throws, but today the discus was by no means a secondary event.

The chatter afterwards was "I never thought I'd enjoy a discus competition so much". Well that's because we never get to see it. If you're not Bolt, Farah or a pretty middle of the road home athlete then broadcasters tend to think we won't be interested.

The star of this competition was a remarkable Nigerian. We were interested. And we saw it. It was great. Watch the discus. Watch the wonderful Robert Harting, Gerd Kanter, Sandra Perkovic.
