Portrait of Madison
We spent a lovely day at the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia with the twins. This is Madison, one half of our twin set. The other half was featured in a blip in March. I managed to capture this candid shot of her over lunch as she was intently listening to her grandfather tell her about Dr. Barnes, and his extraordinary art collection.
This was my fourth visit to this collection, the first in its new setting.
I could rave about this extraordinary art collection for paragraphs but instead I will include a link with more information for anyone who might be interested. It will be enough to say that in this one location, all collected by this one connoisseur, are "181 paintings by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, 69 by Paul Cézanne, 59 by Henri Matisse, 46 by Pablo Picasso, 21 by Chaim Soutine, 18 by Henri Rousseau, 16 by Amedeo Modigliani, 11 by Edgar Degas, 7 by Vincent van Gogh, and 6 by Georges Seurat." There are also numerous works by other European and American masters.
