Mono-Monday: Signs
I wasn't able to plan ahead for this challenge as we are away from home, in Philadelphia for a few days. This is a plaque, next to the grave of Benjamin Franklin, one of our "Founding Fathers" and signers of the Declaration of Independence. He was a most interesting fellow.
"Franklin was a leading author, printer, political theorist, politician, postmaster, scientist, inventor, civic activist, statesman, and diplomat. As a scientist, he was a major figure in the American Enlightenment and the history of physics for his discoveries and theories regarding electricity. As an inventor, he is known for the lightning rod, bifocals, and the Franklin stove, among other inventions." (wikipedia)
He was also known for his wit.
His actual gravestone has only his name and dates. People leave pennies on the grave stone, as a nod to his motto "a penny saved is a penny earned."
Thanks gingernan for excellent hosting of this challenge this month!
