Geiko Gecko?

After a delicious breakfast accompanied by a lot of geckos, we took the suggestion of our lovely hosts and went to Two Steps Beach for some snorkeling. Two steps beach is located at Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park.

It was a great suggestion and the snorkeling was awesome. The natural ‘two steps’ entry into the ocean made it super easy to get in. The current was much stronger than on Kauai and it was a little more frightening, but still fun.

After snorkeling we went back to the B&B to change and headed back out for some sightseeing.

First stop was St. Benedict's Painted Church. This church was beautiful with the inside painted as you see it in R’s picture.

After that we went back to Pu’uhonua o Hanaunau National Historical Park to tour the grounds. Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park is located on the South Kona coast on the island of Hawaii. It contains about 420 acres of federal lands, including the coastal areas of two ahupua'a (land divisions), Honaunau and Keokea and the upland areas of the Ki'ilae ahupua'a.

Did you know? In 1778 Captain Cook visited the Kealakekua bay area and perished in a struggle with the native people over a stolen row boat.

For our anniversary dinner we had hoped to eat at a restaurant suggested by our B&B hosts, the Manago Hotel Restaurant. But when we arrived there it was closed! Closed on Monday’s! Doh! So we went up the road to Teshima’s Restaurant (Japanese cuisine) …… food was very good and you got plenty of it.
