Complex Congrejo

We were forced to leave our adopted pets behind when we left Pátzcuaro, three cats, two dogs, and a rabbit, because our complex does not allow animals. This neighborhood crab, however, did not get the word they are unwelcome and have been arriving on our patio pretty regularly since we returned. I finally captured one out in the open, well mostly open, today. While we have always had small crabs around, both inside and outside our apartment, these large ones - this guy's carapace was at least 10 cm, are new. I always thought crabs lived in the sea, but these seem to thrive on land and fiercely defend their newly claimed territory.
