The Biggest (and best) Village Show in England....
I slept really well at L's house and didn't emerge until 10ish. We had bacon sarnies for breakfast, done on the barbecue and ended up dining outdoors for each meal again today. After some chilling in the lovely morning sun (it was a bit cooler than yesterday) we went to the Heckington Village show, near Sleaford, meeting C on the way.
I spent the afternoon with C while L and co went round on their own. This show is the largest village show in England lasting two days. It attracts 32,000 people over the weekend and is spread over at least 9 fields. It's like a County show really. I enjoyed the big band and inspecting the livestock tents. I bought a few bits and pieces from the craft and knick knack tents and inspected the produce and show tents, as well enjoying as a tasty frozen yoghurt, which was very cooling as it got up to 27C again.
My blip is of a shearing competition of those really, really long fleeced sheep and was fascinating to watch. Despite being thrown around and being contorted into some weird positions, I bet the sheep were grateful on a hot day like today.
We left at 4.30pm and had a deli type dinner on the terrace. I left Lincolnshire at 7ish and had a great run back home, making good time. Rather bizarrely, I narrowly missed running over two Little Owls, which were standing in the middle of the road just outside my village!
I'm looking forward to my last day of freedom tomorrow....
