Mother Fig Lives!

All the fig trees in Philadelphia were killed to the roots by frost last winter. This large one, just a block from me, is making an amazing comeback.

The tree was planted around the 1960s as a sapling from Italy. Its figs are very fine, and last year I successfully transplanted a sapling from this mother tree to my front garden. Today I was given two cuttings in jars of water, so I'll try to extend the orchard a little more.
