Exercise

Got up early this morning in order to beat the crowds at Glacier Point. The slightly quiet and formal elderly German guests who were staying at the B&B have left and have been replaced by some friendly, chatty Austrians!

I must not have eaten enough breakfast because I really struggled today climbing up a hill in hot sunshine. Managed a walk which lasted just under 2 hours. The first bit involved walking down a hill through redwoods and pine trees. It was super warm but that was ok. Met one woman coming in the other direction and she told me that my T-shirt would not save me from the bears! Lots of squirrels and chipmunks darting around the place. Saw 2 huge waterfalls in the distance.

The return journey was a killer, super hot mid-day sun, not too much shade and by this point I had convinced myself a bear was going to appear or that there was not enough water to keep the old brain and legs going (I didn't need to worry on both counts). Passed quite a few people on the way back, they were going down and some had to inform me by going uphill I was doing it "the hard way". I felt like saying something about mad dogs and Englishmen but thought better of it :-)

Back to the B&B quite early today after 6 hours of racing around Yosemite. Last day here tomorrow. My legs are getting stronger quite quickly and my feet are back in the swing of wearing barefoot runners with my ankles complaining less that they were yesterday.

In other news an iphone and Sat Nav system were submerged in water for an extended period of time today (in the car!) the iphone has survived but the Sat Nav is looking decidedly iffy having been unresponsive for a couple of hours. My map reading skills are pretty poor so. . . .

This photo shows the Half Dome in the background, a sight I never thought I would see again. I'm really very grateful that I have been lucky enough to see it again.
