Mirror Lake without the lake bit

Taken without my knowledge using a GOPRO. I was so busy taking photos of one of my favourite places on Earth that I did not know that behind me Mr H was doing something panoramic using his Gopro toy and by lucky chance I was in it. I have asked permission to use this as my blip today because he starts saying things about plagerism and the like otherwise :-) (well he's saying it now actually as I type) so there you go, using a loud speaker across Blipland, Mr H took this shot.

Yosemite National Park, like the rest of California is hit by a drought so Mirror Lake is more of a damp field at the moment. There were ducks and duckings pecking at its damp remains today. There was a beautiful adolescent deer in the car park when I arrived at the park and when I was about to leave it was there again, it would have been my blip today had I not caught sight of this which I feel gives a great sense of scale.

When I returned to leave the park the deer was mooching around and I took more shots but tried to give the creature a few metres space. As it walked to a truck some hidden dogs inside the vehicle started going crazy and the deer came skipping towards me for protection, I guess he/she had got used to my presence and realised I meant no harm. One of the oddest experiences in my life, walking a 15 meters with a wild deer which had run up to me so it could walk right by my side, quite beautiful, it was about 10cm from me for the entire walk and showed no fear of me. How can a wild animal make such a decison so quickly? Luck or really is it instinct?

In other news I walked about 3 hours today and some of it was well off the beaten track which was nice but a bit scary when the bear traps were spotted. I really do hope I won't see a bear this holiday as I don't have the quick reactions I need to deal with it, still rather tired, maybe that means I am relaxing?!
