Ticket Please
The next train to arrive at Platform One...is a vintage diesel locomotive stopping at Gotherington, Winchcombe and Toddington.
By pure chance driving home from the Broadway Tower I saw a field being used as a car park. Scooting into the Toddington railway entrance it was a ticket holders only job but a guy said if I parked up and went in round the back, as it was late I should be able to wander round.
This Heritage Diesel Weekend offers a 24 mile round trip re-creating some of the main line ambiance of this former route. A tribute to the history of British electrical and mechanical engineering from the 1950's and 1960's. You can be "a driver for a fiver"! Serious stuff!
A very 'blokey' thing!
Blokes with cameras, blokes with timetables, blokes with cases...!
Blokes in overalls, blokes with greasy rags, blokes with flags, blokes with whistles ......!
Blokes in uniform, blokes in hats, blokes with badges.....!
Enthusiastic blokes with train spotter books... mostly all getting off their train ride and very excited they were! Easier to get shots when the chattering passengers had disembarked.
I should have had an orange high visibility vest printed with the words GWSR Photographer and carried a PTS which as we all know is the Personal Track Safety booklet. Sorry orange really doesn't suit me. My annual Lineside Photography Pass and associated instruction sheet? Well...missing too! :))
The dog is qualifying this for the Nature and Wildlife group too.
