A bygone age

The old bus is advertising a garage in Thornton Dale which specialises in vintage vehicles. It supplied many of the vehicles used in Heartbeat filmed in Goathland. I did wonder why it was here as there was no sign of any passengers.

The bus was parked outside Ada Martindale's Moorcock Inn at Langdale End. When I first started orienteering we called in after an event. It was like sitting in someone's front room with a small serving hatch doubling up as the bar. Only bottled refreshments were available served by Ada herself. Although the name is still above the door and there is an advert for Sunday lunch I cannot imagine Ada is still the licensee.
