On the way to Getaria we stopped off in Guernica to visit the town that was the target of the worlds first saturation bombings by the Nazi's (26th April 1937) under the order of General Franco during the Spanish Civil war.

Guernica has always fascinated me since learning about it in school and also of Picasso's famous painting depicting the atrocities of those bombings.

This is a replica of that famous painting as the original is housed in Madrid.

The Museum of Peace was very moving telling the horrors of that day but also positive in its strive for peace.
