The Bedlington Boys

It rained all morning here but I had slipped down into Drybrook first thing to get a paper so CoffeePotter and I settled down to complete the crossword. The sun arrived about 13:30 to save us from our misery and we gathered up our two Bedlington boys and went for a drive instead.

We headed for Clearwell a small village close by which we had driven through the day before.

After parking close to the centre we retrieved the boys from their cage in the back and started to wander around. Outside a charming cottage in the High Street CoffeePotter discovered two rocking horses on the pavement. Whipping out her camera she swung into action, it was going to her blip for the day. Just then a man appeared from the house and asked me to wait. I expected an addition to the rocking horses but no. Out he came with another Bedlington.

Well at fist I thought what a coincidence. Unfortunately Hector and Ziggy both felt very differently about it, and when the owners dog uttered a bark in protest about the suspected invasion of his property he was engulfed by the what can only be called an tirade of abuse from our two. I was horrified but the gentleman thought it highly amusing and we chatted about the breed with him and after a few minutes was joined by his wife and left after an amusing half an hour.

Anyway I digress, my subject today was once a high tech bit of kit, I assume to be a hand cranked pump and can be found by a small stream in the village.
