St Oyen on a rainy day

A day of sorting out, clearing out, tidying up, today was not the sort of day for going out into the mountains. However, the dog needs walking, I need fresh air and then there's always blip! We got very wet but enjoyed our stroll up to the next village and back. The local teams were playing football in the rain, and with quite an audience! Everyone else was out with umbrellas!
The village of St Oyen lies on the pilgrim's trail over the St Bernard pass. A tunnel is under construction to bypass this village and the neighbouring one, maintaining their sleepy alpine village status, but there are those who fear the lack of passing trade. For sure, they will be safer and quieter, but it would be a shame for those passing by not to take in the beauty of these villages with their great stonework, slated roofs and rustic charm: the Casa della Polenta is not to be missed for a traditional meal out!
