Hamish

Not my intended blip for today, but more of that later! This is Hamish, a 10 foot tall Highland stag, created by Andy Scott who is perhaps even more famous for his wonderful Kelpies at Falkirk.

Hamish gets around a bit and has been displayed at other venues and in other colours, but he's here at Rosemount Golf Club in Blairgowrie to promote the Junior Ryder Cup, which takes place on 22-23 September.

We had intended to visit the Blairgowrie and Rattray Highland Games, held in a field close by. According to the "Welcome to Scotland" website, the date had been changed from its usual one in September to Sunday 20th July. However, when we bowled up about lunchtime, it was obvious that they had got the whole thing wrong and the date is still in September, as it always has been! Just as well we didn't come from a great distance and hope nobody else was also misled.

Anyway, it was great to meet Hamish and hope you agree:-)
