Clouds - At Last!
Visited Nostell Priory, near Wakefield today and what a difference a day makes! Much cooler and more pleasant to walk around the beautiful house and gardens. There were clouds in the sky adding character, even if there was no rain from them.
This is a view of the lake behind the house and there seems to be an odd reflection in the water. I wonder what it means?!!!!
The Priory, so named because of an earlier Augustinian priory on the site, had rooms designed by my favourite architect, Robert Adam and so everything was balanced and in harmony. The furniture was mostly by Thomas Chippendale and the gardens were designed by Capability Brown, so it was surprising to learn that the family who originally owned the house had bought their china second-hand and the crest on it was not their own family crest!! Then again, they were from Yorkshire:-)
Driving home again tomorrow afternoon, so hope to catch up with you all in the next day or so and apologies again for lack of comments and replies.
