My Best Efforts - Year 3

A Bit Less Gaudy......

.....than yesterday!! It really was rather bright!

Blue Canterbury bells against the yellow of Lysimachia punctata - (yellow loosestrife) - looks rather pretty I think. I have always liked the combination of blue and yellow.

The Loosestrife is very invasive but easily pulled up if necessary and the Canterbury Bells are self seeded. The two look good in a rather shaded spot.

My BOUI for today regards things which happened on the 20th July down the years:-

1) 1712 - The Riot Act takes effect in Great Britain.

2) 1801 - Elisha Brown Jr pressed a 1,235 pound cheese ball at his farm. (That MUST be in the States!!)

3) 1878 - 1st telephone introduced in Hawaii. (That really surprised me!)

4) 1890 - "Gibbons Stamp Monthly" began
publishing.

5) 1926 - A convention of the Methodist Church votes to allow women to become priests.

6) 1927 - Charles Lindbergh begins NY flight (Spirit of St Louis).

7) 2005 - Canada becomes the fourth country in the world to legalize same-sex marriage, after the bill C-38 receives its Royal Assent.

A very humid morning - sun very hazy but at 10am the temperature is already 70 Deg.F! - hardly any breeze!

A day for taking it easy I think - so enjoy if you can.
