Hold the front page!

Local papers make for fascinating reading. Their "dog bites man" journalism is basically the same no matter where in the world you are.

Who will win the pet competition? Will the youngsters look more cheerful if the sun shine on their gala day? (At the moment, there is no prospect). And mayhem in the village is about deer poachers not clearing up afterwards, rather than a Midsomer Murder kind of story.

But at least it is all easier to process than the big papers! I fly many airlines. Malaysian was up at the top for friendly, efficient service, with everyone doing their best to make the passenger comfortable and happy. I last flew them in January.

The scale of the personal tragedies that have overtaken them is horrendous. So many questions - so many broken hearts.
