Scots Pine Sparrow
I love the way the house sparrows play in this tree outside our bedroom window. They aren't just playing they're munching at something but too far away for me to make out what! Noisy little devils in the early morning, not normally something I notice but these last few weeks we've had to sleep with the window open due to the heat. Once woken I try not to be cross with them ;-)
Their decline since 1977 of over 70% is very worrying and is apparently continuing at least in England, but in our garden you wouldn't believe this was the case :-)
The pine tree is one brought back from a trip to Scotland many years ago by Pete when he went climbing as a young man. He kept it 'bonsaied' for about ten years before deciding 'to let it free' and it's now as tall as the house, a fabulous specimen that I shall miss terribly :-(
