Murchison, are you ready?

The title of the entry is in honor of the song that was stuck playing in Mohammed's car over and over again. Radio & Weasel can rock the radio, but hearing them over and over again is draining! The rest of the afrobeat tunes Mohammed played were a kicker though. We're on the road to Murchison Falls NP, via a long scenic detour we decided to take, to pass by Lake Albert once more.

The ride took us through fields and villages, plus a sugarcane plantation, before reaching the hills by the lake. From there we descended to a fisherman village called Butiaba where we had a walk around, between the marabou storks, fishing nets and goats on boats. From here, you can see Congo across the lake. After, we continued up the road to a crossroad village called Bulisa where we grabbed some food and beers. Then on to the national park.

Mohammed told us he could cheat the system and avoid paying the 48 hours of fees by bribing the staff to fake our entry time. Sure, why not? While he did that, we chilled in a bar hut on the outskirts of the park with a bunch of rangers, watching Ugandan music videos and bad police shows.

At 3pm, we headed in to the park and dropped our stuff off at Red Chili Camp, a chilled out and cheap camp of bandas and tents, although a bit mainstream for our usual taste. Too many mazungus. Then, we headed straight to the barge across the Nile (what a beauty) for an evening game drive! The savannah here is much more green and dramatic than at QENP. There's a couple other animals to see as well, such as giraffes and hartebeest. Too bad Total are digging around for oil in the park.

Not gonna go into detail about the game drive, who wants to read about it anyway, its an experience! We made it back to Red Chili for dinner on one of the last barges if not the last, satisfied by our day and ready for some rounds of fresh Niles. Relaxed. Much love to the bros.
