Mostly Six Five Oh

A pause between races around the parking lot. 8 p.m. and still 88ºF.

I took a walk around the neighborhood this evening once the sun was going down, hubby was stuck on a conference call so I headed out on my own. Windows and doors open, folks on their porches, others cruising along on their bikes or skateboards.

Now that the World Cup is over I actually managed to watch a couple of movies, both San Francisco movies.

Following Sean (2005), documentary. I'd actually seen this movie before but was in the mood to watch it again and was surprised at the large chunks of it I'd forgotten. A documentary film maker had interviewed a 4 year old boy who lived in his apartment building while he was living in the Haight in San Francisco during the '60s and created a short movie of the interview that had launched his career. The documentary Following Sean is his return to San Francisco to see what had become of Sean as an adult. A really interesting look at generations of family and society.

The Institute (2013), documentary. This was an odd documentary about the Jejune Institute in San Francisco which was an incredibly elaborate alternate-reality game that had been created by artist Jeff Hull. The game lasted 3 years and the movie follows how the game came about and progressed, interviewing the creators and participants of the game. It was pretty bizarre but interesting, some of it quite funny. A scene where game participants had to go to various pay phones in the Mission to get the next clue and ended up having to dance on Mission Street with a Sasquatch and B-Boy before they could receive the next task made me laugh out loud. An article about it here as it's kind of difficult to explain it.
