.... for a busy busy day!

Obstacle courses were the thing of the day for the nursery commonwealth games today! She was meant to be practicing for graduation apparently, but it fell through when their backing CD wasnt working!

After preschool, we had an incredibly fabulous afternoon. She had asked to have lunch out somewhere. I suggested we got a picnic. There is a beautiful de-consecrated graveyard in the town centre that has a beautiful sensory garden now. We spent over an hour eating, pottering round the plants and looking at some of the tombs and gravestones. We then took a look round our town's Georgian quarters, which I have never visited before. A fabulous arcade of super quaint, arty shops. We then discovered a gorgeous, gorgeous art gallery. Photography, ceramics, sculpture, painting. We had a really relaxed happy time. She surprised me with some of the art that caught her, yet equally, the things I thought would appeal to her, she loved. I very much enjoyed watching her take it in. We have also put aside a wee handmade sculpture for my godson too!

After the gallery, we hung out in a couple of book shops for a while. I have wanted to buy her Green Eggs and Ham, then we raided the Oxfam bookshop. She chose a "Where's the meerkat" book - think Where's Wally but with 10 meerkats per scene! I chose her some reading books too.

It was on then to her swimming lesson. I am going to be braggy mama now, so stop reading if that offends you! I am incredibly proud of her. I learnt today that she will move into Grade 4 in three weeks time. She's got one small element of Grade 3 that is being completed in her summer swim course in a week's time, but otherwise the whole grade got signed off today. The rule in our county is they're not meant to be in Graded classes until theyve started school; the average age of Grade 3 is 6. I'm super pleased for her. She is soooo proud of herself.
