The roses in the front space (I hesitate to use the word garden) continue to run riot alongside Rosemary Bush. Today's offering was either this or a box of onions.

Just heard on the radio that the writer Nadine Gordimer has died. Another on my 'really should give a go' list. I'm such a slob when it comes to literature, I really am .....

Speaking of culture, we've booked tickets for the Fairport Convention Cropredy Festival in August just outside Banbury in Oxfordshire.

After the last experience there about 5 years ago I swore I'd never go again (we found ourselves pitched next to some racist oiks and when we reported them to the security crew one of the crew actually laughed). However, the lineup this year is rather good, we'll be meeting up with someone we've not seen for too long and I feel much more confident about handling any unpleasantness than I did a few years ago.

As the saying goes: 'There are many, many more of us than you'.
