Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

By Carol

This morning we got moving and out of the house earlier than usual because I wanted to visit the Farmer's Market that is located in the pier parking lot of Friday mornings 10:00 - 12:30.

It is a very small venue, so I walked through quickly and discerned that most items were pricey. I did purchase two red onions and 4 lemons from one vendor and then a little tub of tabouli from another vendor.

While we were there someone mentioned that a whale had been spotted spouting somewhere near the pier. So we went right out to watch and sure enough we were seeing whale spouts. We watched for a while and then decided that we needed to get back to the house because I wanted to also go to the library when it opened at 12 noon.

On the way back to the house we stopped at the Seniors' Thirift Store. I like to check there often because they usually have a table near the back of the store with free veggies, fruit, and bakery items. So today I found a head of lettuce and Mr. Fun found several loaves of bread, which we used later with our evening meal.

When we arrived back at the house, I fried some eggs for a late breakfast and also fixed the pups their morning snack. Then we put the pups in their crates and headed for the library.

At the library I borrowed a book that is looking pretty good as I get through the introduction and the first chapter. It is In the Neighborhood by Peter Lovenheim. I'll report more about it in a few days.

We left the library and Mr. Fun announced that he was a little hungry and that maybe we should stop to get an ice cream. I thought that sounded terrific. If we keep this habit going we'll be Porky & Petunia Pig by the end of summer. Why does "vacation" mode always include being hungry?

So we spent the middle afternoon reading and snoozing and having a leisurely good time.

We fixed spaghetti for dinner with bread and a salad (gotten at the seniors' store earlier today).

Once we cleared the table of all the dishes, I could sense that the pooches were noticing that the sunlight would soon disappear and they had not gotten to go on a walk yet today. So we hooked them to their leashes and we were out the door and walking. That just makes them crazy happy.

When we had thoroughly exhausted the pups, we returned to the house to sit and watch the ocean which was absolutely alive with activity. We could see large splash sprays glisten in the light of the low sunrays and spouts of steam . . . very entertaining. "CLEAR" is the best description of this day. We could see for miles and miles -- thoroughly mesmerizing!

This has been a delightful day!
