News that there are plans to erect a statue to Gandhi in Parliament Square prompted me to go and look today at the one that already exists in Tavistock Square, as it's only 5 minutes walk away from Friends House.

It reminded me of his famous quote when asked, while visiting this country in 1931, what he thought of Western civilization. He replied, "I think it would be a very good idea".
