Moor Street Station, Birmingham

The Wheel of Everyday Life keeps turning, and brings me once more to Moor Street Station in Birmingham, on my way to visit Mum.

The station was restored and refurbished in 1930s style during the first decade of this century, including the installation of GWR-inspired gilt signage on the front and side elevations of the station building. The renovation won the Railway Heritage Trust award for 2004 and The Birmingham Civic Society's Renaissance Award for 2005. Interestingly, I was talking to a Friend at Woodbrooke at a meeting of Quaker Life Representative Council; he told me he is a civil engineer and was extensively involved in this project.
