Dartford Warbler
Up and out for another fine walk, alongside my birder buddy. He's so knowledgeable that nature peels back its layers in his company as he identifies birdcalls, treelife and various other natural bits and pieces that I know next to nothing about. It makes a walk a wonderful kaleidoscope of life.
The photo is of a Dartford Warbler which has been scarce (possibly the only pair on this heathland). We waited and hunted with our lenses for a glimpse this flighty and elusive wee bird. We were lucky and our patience was rewarded and this is one of a series of shots we got.
The best thing of course was being out in the Devon countryside with a friend and recognising what a lucky guy I am. Apart from the cleggs of course. There's always got to be some irksome idiot at the party. For once it wasn't me.
