Bienvenue à La Ciotat
I've finally arrived in La Ciotat after what's seemed like a never ending journey! I was awake at 4.30am, my taxi arrived early and the roads were quiet, so I arrived at Gatwick with two hours to spare. I had a wander around the shops, bought some cosmetics and then went to Cafe Rouge for breakfast. I decided as I'm on holiday I'd treat myself and I had Eggs Benedict and a glass of champagne :-) Very nice it was too!
I then went to look at the departure board and saw that my plane was delayed by two hours! So a little more shopping took place and I bought a nice top from Mango. Anyway we took off about 2.5 hours later and arrived in Marseille just before 1pm.
That's when my adventure really started - I had to walk to the other terminal and catch a shuttle bus to the station which is about 30 mins away, then catch a train to La Ciotat (another 30 mins) and then wait for another bus because the station is almost 5kms away from the port. When the bus arrived it had an open top, and drove along the seafront so I sat upstairs. It was nice having a bird's eye view, but it's extremely windy here today so it was very blustery!
I then had to walk around the port to the hotel and Alan nipped out of his meeting to give me the room key. I've managed to get on the hotel wifi to post my blip of the port and now I'm going to go and find a cafe and have a nice glass of rosé while I wait for him to finish work.
Tonight, we're going out for dinner with some of his French colleagues so it'll be nice to speak French as I'm not getting much practice these days!
