The sunset came up trumps

I had been struggling for a blip all day. No subject came to mind or grabbed my attention. We were out walking this evening and I saw an old Morris Traveller, a "D" reg it was and I thought - there's a blip for the taking. The Traveller was in very good condition. It must have been one of the last ever produced - 1966 I think. People my age usually have a soft spot for the Morris Minor and Traveller as many of our parents or grandparents may well have driven one.

We owned a Morris Minor, it was Dad's first car, registration number 315 KRB. (apparently a Cheshire registration) It's odd how we can remember things like that. Our next car was a Ford Escort PNT 145G, followed by a Vauxhall Victor NAW 621M.

We travelled miles in that old Morris, the most memorable journeys being to the Welsh Coast. It only let us down twice - once when Dad was taking his test. He did the emergency stop then couldn't get the brake off again. And another occasion when a hose split and the engine overheated. Good times.

But that's not relevant to this shot. As we set out on our walk - around 7.45pm I said the sky looked very interesting, it was almost as if the clouds were flowing across the sky. I wasn't even expecting a sunset given the cloudy conditions but towards sunset clouds on the horizon parted allowing the sun to light up layers of cloud. We were just coming along the Woodland Trust at this point and turned the corner to see this. I took lots of shots and it proved difficult to choose just one for the blip. Hope you like it. Felt extremely privilaged to have witnessed such a magnificant, but fleeting, display. In the right place at the right time.
