Emily and Vimbai
I kept on waking up in the early hours of the morning, because the room had blinds instead of curtains. So it was much lighter than I am use to!
Breakkie at 8am, Bacon and baked beans! :)
The lectures were all very interesting. Firstly it was A&E nurse (sounded very interesting), midwifery and paediatric nursery. And then the uni talk was finished (it was only around 10 minutes).
I had a yummy lunch (baguette and chocolate cookie, then my friends and I walked around the campus for a little bit. Then we sat on this really cool tree trunk, shown in the photo. The campus was very nice! :)
And then we had a nursing technique workshop with 6 sessions (25 minutes each). They used a ECG machine on a boy, but but we only put the electrodes on his wrists and ankles. Because he didn't want it on his chest! Then we did blood pressure on each other, which was very fun but I wasn't very good at it! Suturing (sewing) was next and it was also very fun and I managed to go some stitches (we had to use forceps, some scissor-ery things and a curved needle). we also used an Ultrascanner to see a blood vessel on the wrist, then we saw a heart pumping! And then we scanned the stomach, although we couldn't the girl's liver! Afterwards we talked about different types of scans (like CT or MRI), although sadly the powerpoint didn't work, so we didn't see any photos of X Rays. And finally we were taught how to put on a neck brace and pelvic strap. It was overall a very good experience and I'm glad that I went! :)
We left Nottingham, and stopped off at Grandma's house. But we didn't stay long because I was very tired and I had school tomorrow! :)
