The Circle of Life.

Very sad to say that poor wee squeek the duckling didn't survive, despite the help of a great band of friends and neighbours :(

Thanks to J who got up early to prepare chick crumbs for him.
And big thanks to B who whisked him away in a super hot car this morning, to take him to N, the duck expert, and a possible broody hen adoptive mother. ( N had a pet duck that he reared by hand, which used to go surfing with him.)

And thanks to Councillor E who had to wait for B to return to the office. She said that she'd had to wait for a lot of things in her time, but never a duck before.

He had been very lively until this morning, and had food and water. Maybe he had some internal injury from whatever had plucked him from his nest :(

There was an interesting reaction from the office staff when I arrived with him this morning.
The funniest reaction was the only man in the office saying - keep him away from me, he's as big as a mouse! And he was serious :)

Came home from the office feeling very sad, and found this wonderfully decorated envelope on the mat. Made me smile. Birthday present from my gorgeous girl in Oz. xxxx
