Christ Preaching at Cookham Regatta

Today I'm sending out a few more postcards, to fellow Postcrossers in Finland, Taiwan, the USA and Germany. I found some good ones in the shop of the Stanley Spencer Gallery when I visited Cookham. I particularly like this picture, one of a series of studies Stanley Spencer did to go with his unfinished major work, Christ Preaching at Cookham Regatta. It shows to me a playfulness and sense of humour that sit very comfortably alongside a sense of wonder and awe at the miraculous breaking through in to the everyday world.
