Ordinary Time

I've been reading, and greatly enjoying, a book by Paula Gooder called Everyday God: The Spirit Of The Ordinary. I was intrigued by what she says in it about Ordinary Time - the season in the church's year between the major Christian festivals. She uses this as the springboard for a series of reflections celebrating the 'ordinary' in all its diverse manifestations.

I've been thinking myself about where I find 'The Sacred in the Everyday' - one of the units in the Becoming Friends course. I often discover it in the process of choosing my 'blipmoment' for the day. So I've been happily immersed in Ordinary Time today: making a casserole; baking bread for some Friends I'll be seeing later this week; taking out the rubbish; filling the bird feeders.

And then there's that Ordinary Time moment when you look at the clock and think, 'Time for a small glass of something out on the decking'.
