BLIP MEET MEMORIES
These red-winged black birds were marching down the bridge railing toward the peanuts that were strategically placed by blippers hoping to entice some birds for a shot or two.
My daughter (BetsysPics) and I had a great time today at my first Blip Meet. We met Naturelover, Michigan Man and Sefferdog at Kensington Metro Park near Detroit. After starting with a picnic we walked a trail along a beautiful wetland where we saw several kinds of birds. We tossed a few peanuts for a little chipmunk who decided to store as many as he could in his cheeks. A Great Blue Heron stopped to watch us a few minutes, and a swan family was out for a swim.
Next we went to an animal farm to check out a nice variety of animals. I was surprised to learn the ‘farm’ was actually a feature of the Metro Park, giving inner-city children (and adults too) an opportunity to get close to farm animals. One of the funniest was a ‘guru goat’ with its all-knowing toothy smile. I also got a shot of two piglets sound asleep after filling their tummies.
A special thank you to Naturelover and her husband for planning the Blip Meet and bringing the picnic lunch, as well as a lovely, relaxing boat ride around their lake. It was a great day, and I had a wonderful time meeting everyone.
