Thistle

The thistle is an ancient Celtic symbol of nobility and character as well as of birth. It has been the national emblem of Scotland since the reign of Alexander III (1249 - 1286). As to how it became the symbol of Scotland, the legend goes that there was an invading Norse army trying to sneak up on a Scottish army encampment at night, when one of the Norsemen, who was barefoot, had the misfortune of steping on a thistle, making him cry in pain, which alerted the Scots to the presence of the Norse invaders.

I like thistles!

Today is my dad's birthday. He's 84. Happy Birthday dad!!! :) x

Work was really busy, so it was quite hard to find a chance to rest my leg, but I managed somehow. I was surprised we were so busy, as the weather was really nice today.

Thanks very much for all your nice comments and stars yesterday! I hope you're all having a good weekend! :)
