Cinnabar

Isn't this moth just so vibrant!? It was flitting round the garden, which apparently is what it likes to do on sunny days, settling here and there then moving on. I had an equally nice picture of it on some Nigella, love in a mist, but the sun was at a better angle for this shot :-)


If you have time to look large, notice the fringing on its forewings, it's incredible. By the way, in flight, it's hindwings are completely scarlet!!!!


I'm not sure what message it's sending, as in flight it's certainly saying "look at me!" But it's also saying "keep away, I mean danger!"
