Chicken!

A warm and sunnier day meant we went for a drive to a countryside bakery and café with a gigantic, woodfired oven in their barn. Mum has a soft spot for woodfired ovens. I didn't get to go inside, but the sweet girls gave me water in a flowered porcelain dish.

Mum and grandma had blueberry buns, strawberry cheesecake and almond biscuits. I got a lamb meat stick, but would have absolutely loved to swap it for some cake. It was nice but super hot, and I was happy to get going. Before we left, we bought a tray of fresh eggs, and then stopped to say hello to those who laid them.

I would have loved to herd the hens, it would have been right up my alley. As it was, there was a fence between us, plus they had a cock that I think might have minded that.
