Silver-washed Fritillary
Just how long can this beautiful weather last? ‘til Friday so the forecast says. Well we could certainly do with some rain as we’ve had very little over the past month.
We’ll look for some butterflies so off we go with a picnic to one of our favourite little nature reserves around the remains of a norman manor house. We were not disappointed with a total of 12 species including lots of ringlet and meadow brown, a few skippers and the first pristine silver-washed fritillaries and gatekeepers. There were a few damsel and dragonflies but not as many as we hoped.
