Juvenile purple heron

This evening I saw the family of kestrels hunting dragonflies - the big blue ones and eating them on the wing.

I know that hobbies, another, smaller bird of prey do this, but I've never seen a kestrel do this - maybe this is what is making them so successful, their varied diet and adaptability.

There is no football on tonight - strange, although I did fall asleep during the Belgium v USA match ...
