If you can't beat them...

Queen Victoria - Queen and Empress

Back in May Katkatkat was sorting some things from when she lived at home. In one of the draws she found a box of adds and ends which she felt should be blipped and their stories told.

The first was my Grandfathers Cycling Medal on the 18th May. I was getting desperate for a blip today so I decided to have a look at something else. This is what I came up with. I can only assume it belonged to my Grandfather due to the date.

With regard to telling the story well I find that difficult as I know nothing about it. So I did an internet search, which didn't help a lot. I assumed this was a commemorative "coin" as the hole goes right through the word Victoria. Searching the internet I found no example which had both sides the same as this. I did find one which had the same head side. That was in Australia and the hole was in the same place. It says it is a Medal (commemorative) and had a tartan ribbon and brooch suspension when originally issued. It even quotes a "Carlisles number" what ever one of those is.

So there you have it, I am not a lot wiser, it is obviously marking 60 years of the Queen's reign but that is really all I can tell you.
