Another rooftop terrace

I'd read about this downtown rooftop terrace the other night and so we went off to find it today. Just like the one with the view of the Nile in Zamalek which Bb and I both blipped the other day, the access to this one was also through a dusty, decrepit hotel and a flight up 10 floors in a lift which had most definitely seen better days and probably hadn't been serviced in years: the kind of lift I hold my breath in and count off the floors. We stepped out onto the roof terrace and walked past three workers sitting with their sandals off and their feet up on chairs. I'm sure they didn't expect to see anyone mid afternoon! I felt for them as it was scorching hot, over 40 again and being the first day of a Ramadan, they'd be fasting. Had their been shade, we might have stopped for a drink, but it was far too hot. Worth the ride up for a different view of Cairo though! My blip's very similar to Bb's, but I want it on here to remind me of today too.

We enjoyed Iftar on this first day of a Ramadan with Doaa's family. Happy to report it passed uneventful, with no police encounters like on our last visit! Then we went off to City Stars to enjoy a lemon and mint smoothie with D, N and D's sister L.
