The Old Movie Theater...
Dear Diary,
Our historical society met at the old movie theater in Kezar Falls. A young man bought it a few years ago and is restoring it. He is a film maker and will use the space as a recording studio but also to screen films. It stopped showing films in the early 1970's but was a local landmark since its construction in 1880. This projector is the original 1920's one. There were many there who had seen films in the 50's and 60's and recounted their memories.
Ours is a tiny town in Maine but we are so fortunate to have dedicated people who want to keep our local traditions alive. Hopefully, in time, the smell of popcorn will again be experienced by a new generation of kids watching a matinee in the old 'Playhouse Theater', as it was called.
