An Artist's Life

Pendants

A handful of the 132 bronze pendants I worked on at the foundry. They are based on pictographs and petroglyphs I've found in my travels through Indian country in the US. I am stringing them on leather thongs and adding antique brass trade beads to the thong...you can see one of the thongs strung already. In addition to that, on the reverse of the card I include an interpretation given me by elders in the area of these ancient drawings; for instance: "Remember the peace that may be found in silence", "Thoughts are like arrows; once released, they find their mark", "The morning star watches over us until morning" and "Tatonka Oyate: He Who Owns Us" and 16 others. These go fast at art shows...I call them "Gas Money"
