Alone in the crowd
We went along to Lytham Club Day, parked a little way out, and joined the throng lining the roads to watch the procession. Even though there was a light drizzle from time to time that didn't put a damper on the proceedings. The procession lasted a good hour, with all the usual floats, fancy dress, brass bands, and queens and retinue in decorated horse-drawn carriages. It was very colourful and full of atmosphere. We walked into Lytham and saw the whole thing for a second time as it came back down the main street.
I suddenly spotted this melancholy little person sitting on the edge of the pavement, looking small and solitary amid all the crowd and hubbub.
