Life through the lens...

School Dinners

Out last day in Provence.
We called at the wine village of Vacqueyras for a coffee this morning.
(and to buy a few more bottles of wines to take home.)
The little café was getting ready for lunch. Laying the tables etc.
As we sat out side, in the shade of the plane trees, a man was lighting the outside barbeque where they grill all the meats.
Also a lady was cooking in a huge paella pan. Various meats, ( I think chicken) and vegetables, which I thought was probably the main course on the "menu de jour".
However when I asked, she said, "No" it was for the school children!!
School dinners were never like this in my day, and I don't think anywhere in England today either!

We had lunch chez nous, Eating up all that was left in the fridge.
Melon, followed by salad, rattes potatoes, ham,and cheese, and to finish stewed apricots with citron sorbet.

Then packing.

Tonight we walked into the town, and had a light dinner, at one of the cafes in the square. There were two young people singing in the French chanson style.
As we walked back the sun was setting, and it was still 26c at 10pm.
How I will miss these lovely evenings.

We still have two more stops on our way back to Zeebrugge, but this will be my last blip until we get back home.

Hope you all have a good weekend.
