Herdwicks

Busy day today... I was up with the lark for our third bike breakfast at Dumfries Northwest. Then, when all was tidied up, D and I were off to Cumbria on a day trip.
First, we spent a few hours at Woolfest, a festival of fibres which has been held for the past 10 years just outside Cockermouth. Everything from sheep, alpacas and angora rabbits through to spinning wheels, felting, rugs, and the most beautiful hand-dyed wool. Woolfest goes on for two days and is extremely busy. This year there was a special focus on Herdwick sheep, these beautiful animals which live on the fells and have such lovely faces! After about three hours, I had had enough, and so we headed out to the fells ourselves for some peace and quiet. We went to walk up a small Hill called Binsey, from where there is a wonderful view of the Lake District Hills and also across the Solway North to Scotland.
Now home for a bit of a rest before Gading out again early tomorrow..
